A website has one job: turn attention into enquiries. Most sites fail at it not because they're ugly, but because nobody decided what the visitor should do next.
What a business website has to get right
Fast loading, obvious contact route, proof you exist and do the work, and a clear answer to "what do you do and who for". Everything else — animation, clever copy, elaborate menus — is optional decoration on top of those four.
SEO, without the mystique
Search visibility comes from having pages that answer real queries, a site structure crawlers can follow, and links from places that already have an audience. Technical SEO stops you being penalised; content and links are what actually make you rank.
How to judge a web agency
Ask who owns the domain, who owns the hosting, whether you can edit the site without them, and what happens to the site if you leave. If any of those answers are vague, you're renting your own front door.
